Hi Guys,I have not bad experience to use CAD but I used to draw simple lines. Now I need to design a garden and need help.I need the design looks real and excellent.Using cad blocks is the wright option?the only thing I know it to get some blocks ,but how I can use it, is there a criteria to design gardennote: it is small area (garden inside school).I appreciate all your help and comments.

Landscape design.  There are programs specific to this type of work that would have just about everything you need in the way of plantings, fences, pavers, benches, trellises, etc.Yes, it could be done using plain AutoCAD and blocks that you find at websites like this. Are you being paid for doing this or are you a student doing a project?

Re: landscape design software.A simple search on those three words written like this (include the quotes) "landscape design software" will pull up any number of possibilities that you can check out.  Unfortunately this means buying another CAD program which you may or may not ever use again.Have you checked this website for landscape-type blocks yet?  Can you tell us what features you plan on incorporating into your design?  There may be other sources of blocks we can recommend to you.Landscape design blocks can be purchased here...http://www.archblocks.com/landscape-design-cad-blocks-1.html

Thank you John so much for your prompt reply.Actually my boss asked me to do that ( I am an architect but working in different field).I saw an ad to design small landscape inside school and I want to do it badly.I have autocad 2013 and revit 2013 also.I want a help to guide me how can I start to put the design in  outstanding picture.

What have you accomplished so far? What elements do you hope to incorporate in your design? What do you mean by "outstanding picture"?  Are you planning on doing a rendering (perhaps 3D)?We need more information.

You say "inside school" in your first post.  Is the area where this "atrium" is going to be lit by natural sunlight? What is the overall size of the area in square feet?  Can you give us the dimensions? Will there be a "water element" of some type? What are your plans for seating?  Will there be benches or a wall of some type (maybe rock or wood) that the students can sit on?  Will there be any flat surfaces where books or laptops can be placed? What is the interior height?  Can small trees (like a ficus) be accommodated in the space? Will artwork or small statuary be included in your design?Any unusual features you'd like to include in the design?

I do not know how can I thank you John for your concern and prompt reply.I mean with outstanding (rendering) if possible, or I want to do a really hark work on it.yes the area will be under sunlight in the school field.area not that big, it is Irregular hexagonal, longest side is 24 m, shortest 7.5 meter. The area should have a fountain , Gazebo and hard scape.places for sitting under the Gazebo witch about 32m diameter. and there is a walkway  from  the fence to Gazebo.the other area should have some plants and grass as well.ficus is a good options.all the design is option but this is some ideas.now I tried to download some blocks, I have 2 problems1. I could not adjust the scale from the block to the original drawing.2. some blocks 2d only , other 3d and I hope to do something 2d and converted to 3d and I do not know how I can start or do.your  help is really appreciated

What program will you be using?  Plain AutoCAD or Revit? It sounds like you will be working in metric units.  Are you using a metric template?  If the default template you are using is set up to use imperial units you could run into problems inserting metric blocks.  The same goes for using a metric template while trying to utilize blocks based upon imperial units.Do you know how to use the Reference option of the Scale command?  That could be a possible solution. Many blocks one finds on the Internet are 2D only although the number of available 3D blocks grows greater each passing day.  3D is the future and the future is now.A 2D block cannot be converted to 3D until it is exploded.  Then you would create a 3D block from the 2D geometry just like you would any 3D object. If your longest side is 24m how can you have a gazebo with a 32m diameter?Have you at least laid out your 2D plan view of the garden yet?  If not I would get to it immediately. Will you be using pavers for walkways or stone flags (ex. - bluestone)?  Or will the walkways be some other material like stone dust or river pebbles or rock?I won't be of much help when it comes to rendering your final 3D layout because I my type of work does not require the use of renderings even though I do work half the time in 3D.

I must ask....1. Where are you located specifically?  Your Profile say United States.  What city/state are you in?2. What do you have as an original drawing?  Is it a site plan of the school?3. If you are located in the U.S. where is the school located?  Is it in the U.S. or overseas somewhere?

It sounds like you are attempting to do this entirely in 3D.  OK.Where did you get the 3D block that is giving you trouble when it comes to inserting it?Yes, this website doesn't make it easy to upload drawings.  You should have been able to PM me unless there is some rule that says you need a minimum number of posts before you can avail yourself of that option.  You cannot email me because I don't normally display my email address and when I do make it available it is for a limited time like 15 minutes then I remove it.You are in the Middle East.  OK.  Then shouldn't you be using materials that can be easily obtained locally?  You must have some idea what those types of materials are don't you?  It does not make sense to be specifying materials that are not easily available due to time and cost considerations.

It's not a problem if the materials not available. The school will handle this, for now I am trying to fit some green area inside the plan but not working. I downloaded some blocks from this website some from others. What I can do if I like idea from design and do not have blocks for it?see this pic. (i hope get downloaded).any Ideas

Simple.  Start creating your own.  No time like the present.FYI...the image above seems a little too crowded with plantings for my taste. It looks like it is trying to discourage people from entering rather than encourage.  No private spaces either.  What if a person wanted to go there to be alone with their thoughts?

I just don't find that space inviting at all.  However, if you really want to do something similar then I would conduct a search on Islamic patterns and maybe after viewing several dozen images you'll obtain some meaningful inspiration for your garden design.  It would still be nice to see a site plan just to have a look at what you have to work with in terms of the general size and shape of the available space. You can find more blocks, both 2D and 3D, at the Cad Block Exchange Network.
