Hello kicker, you have AutoCAD 2012, use the command DDIM to set new dimension styles and when you have set a good one for you, save the file as a "standard file" or save it as a .dwt file for you to use an other time.
DDIM, new, give a name for your dimension style ( with the scale if you want to work directly from the object space ), proceed, set the values in each panel ( a modification will modificate the little drawing showing dimensions on the top left of your screen ), define as current, OK.
Beware of seting correctly the panel N° 4 FIT with the good option in : scale for dimension feature.
Beware of seting correctly the panel N° 5 PRIMARY UNITS, etc...
Ask for more and tell us if you are using AutoCAD recently, what you are doing with it, etc...
Take a look at this site : http://www.we-r-here.com/cad/tutorials/level_4/4-11.htm

What field do you work in?  Mechanical, architectural, other?Create your own dimension style(s) and make it/them part of your template so every time you start a new drawing it already has it incorporated thus saving you the time and effort of either recreating the dimstyle from scratch or bringing it in from another drawing via the Design Center (drag and drop).  Another option would be to put your custom dimstyle on a Tool Palette.

Hello again kicker, to have an easily setable dimension style I propose to create 2 dimension styles :
1 for the formats A0 to A1 with the text height at 3.5 mm + arrow length 3.5 mm
1 for the formats A3 and A4 with the text height at 2.5 mm + arrow length 2.5 mm
Fraction height text : 1 mm ( space under the text ).
This helps for a good readability on the A0 to A3 reduced on A3 formats.
If you do this you just have to set a new FIT with the good option in : scale for dimension feature.
You set it to 50 for a drawing at scale 1/50.

Doesn't Portugal have a recommended industry "standard" for drawings?  Or does it have to follow the standards that were adopted by the EU?

Looks like you'll have more than one dimstyle to create.
