I have Autocad 2007 LT, but the same issue is on 2005 LT.  When I insert an image (bmp) into cad, then delete the image, it still remains on the image dialog box as "unreferenced" and still looks for the path.  Is there anyway to delete these for good?  If you right click you can click unload, but it doesn't do anything.  I've purged everything, regened, saved and reopened, and tried all that I can think of.Any ideas?

Ive had a similar problem in the past, Im using 2008 electrical but it might be the same.  Go to Insert/ External References and delete the referred file there.

Thanks for the quick reply...That's where I'm looking.  but there isn't anyway to "delete" it.  If you right click, you can choose unload or reload.  But unload doesn't do anything.  I've already deleted the image block in the cad drawing, but it still shows up in that dialog box.I'm trying to clean up a drawing before I send it out of the office, so not to confuse anyone thinking that something is missing.

Im trying to recreate your problem.  Use detach rather than unload.  Also delete any references in block editor if any remain.I hope this helps, im out of ideas

I know what you are talking about, but I just don't see it in my dialog box.  Maybe because it's LT...   here is what I see.  (REMOVED THE IMAGE, BETTER EXAMPLE BELOW)

unload it from the xref, not the dwg it references, that should take it out

Tried that already also, the image block is on the xref dwg, the xref_arch dwg, and the main dwg.  Probably because they were made from the same dwg file that originally had the image block secretly attached.  Is my only option to set up a new dwg and copy/paste the xref into it?

First find which xref the image was originally in. Detach it from that xref, purge, save and reload and it should be gone.

I find that often drawings from consultants or title blocks have logos or other images attached, but not found.

OK, OK...  Started over with a new dwg.  purged everything just in
case.  Inserted my image block, then directed it to locate an image
"dog.jpg" on my desktop.  Here is a screenshot.  Notice there is not a detach button.

If you click on "unload", it will just remove the image on the dwg BUT it will leave the image frame and the reference.  So I erase the actual image in the dwg file.  Then it says Unreferenced.  I can't purge it anymore than it already is.  Here is a screenshot of that.

Maybe it's because I have LT?  Is anyone else using that?

I'm using 2008 LT and have also come across this issue. I have had a 'bolt on' (slingshot) added to my LT to bring it up to somewhere near full version although it can leave a lot to be desired. However, this bolt on does allow images to be detached in the same fashion as 2008 full. If you are still having problems I suggest you do a search for this software.
If anyone has found another way of detaching images from AutoCAD LT I would love to know as other users in my office have the same issue and don't have the software.
