Good Morning Friends,

Can anybody tell me the step by step methods and shortcut tips for
drawing Piping Isometrics in Autocad?? I dont have any experience in
Isometric Draings in autocad..And companies are asking for the same.. If
anybody can help me out, I can practice and try..

Hello, first do you want to do 2D or 3D designs ?
If you want to do 2D designs you will have to learn isometric views ( available in scool books ).
Isometric views are used for doing draft design for piping ( tube for fluids consctructions ), they are generaly not scalable as being only scketches for manual workers )
If you draw a cube in an isometric view the vertical is vertical and the two other directions are with an angle of 120°.
The dimensions are drawn with a factor of 0.82.
If you want to do 3D designs you have just to show your work with the 4 isometric views available in the menu View, 3D point of view:
South/West , South/East , North/East , North/West.
If you want I can provide you a "2D frame" and/or examples if I can find an old one ( if I can find the old file ).

You can also use the piping version of AutoCAD - AutoCAD Plant 3D. There is much more advanced functionality for drawing (generating) isometric drawings from 3D models.

Do you want to do this in 2D or 3D?I see you are using AutoCAD P&ID.  Does the program have the ability to generate isometrics, as some do, from a 2D schematic?

Hello again, I have loaded 2 new files about the subject :

hi there, if you want to draft isometric in 2D, change first your crosshair in iso plane, i.e. 30x60 deg by going to OSNAP(object snap) button in your autocad window, right click on it, then click settings, then pick snap and grid button, click isometric snap under snap type, click ok. you can now draw lines in either 30deg or 60deg plane by pressing the F5 button on the keyboard. you can also download pipe fittings in isometric plane and insert it as blocks. hope this will help.

if you are familiar with piping design in 3d using AutoPlant or PDS(Plant Design System), which currently i am using, it can generate isometric automatically in 2d and can be annotate either in autocad or microstation
