How many times have you tried to open a drawing, only to be stopped short by a dialog like this one: It indicates that theres a font or shape (SHX) file used by the drawing that AutoCAD LT cant find. (The missing SHX file looks a little different, with a browse option to let you navigate to the file if you have it.) You can click Cancel (or OK, if you have a replacement font or file), but then you might get another warning for the next missing fileand another for the one after thatsometimes it feels like youre clicking Cancel forever. Fortunately, AutoCAD LT 2011 puts an end to the endless clicking. The first time you open a drawing that references missing SHX files, youll see this instead: This dialog gives you a choice between specifying a replacement for each missing file (the way it worked before), or just ignoring the problem and opening the drawing. Even better, theres a check box at the bottom to remember your current choice, so if you select Ignore and check the box, youll never be prompted again. Admittedly, ignoring the problem doesnt make it go away. You still get a notification in the text window about the missing files, and you still have to track them down (which probably means a phone call to whoever sent you the drawing) in order for the file to display correctly. But if youre opening up a whole bunch of drawings at once, which each have a whole bunch of missing files, wont it be nice to skip all the *Cancel* *Cancel* *Cancel* clicks?Go to the original post...
