Hi,

i'm trying to learn how to import a field book file (.fbk)...i keep running into roadblocks. i have the .fbk file saved on my desktop. using the IMPORT SURVEY DATA - SPECIFY DATABASE option, i have no existing database shown and when i try to "create new survey database " and enter a name of a folder i get "the survey database does not exists and could not be created"

can someone explain how to get the .fbk file into autocad?

using civil 3d 2011

thanks

Did you follow the instructions in your User's Guide for importing a field book file?  There's even a tutorial exercise named "Importing Field Coded Survey Data".

SURE DID...FOLLOWED STEP BY STEP BUT THEN I GET TO THE STEP WHERE I HAVE TO EITHER CHOOSE AN EXISTING DATABASE OR CREATE A NEW DATABASE...AND SINCE I DONT HAVE AN EXISTING DATABASE (AT LEASTE I DONT THINK I DO) I HAVE TO CREATE ONE. BUT WHEN I TRY TO SPECIFY A NAME FOR THE FOLDER IT GIVES ME THAT ERROR MESSAGE.

Either you have an existing database or you don't.  Why wouldn't you know that?

Try posting your question at the Civil 3D forum here:http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Civil-3D/bd-p/66You can also do a search of the forum.  I suggest using the words "field book".
