Help!I have another glitch showing up tonight... No matter what layer I'm on and what linetype it's set to, everything is coming out as a "HIDDEN2" linetype. For now, to finish the dwg. I'm just using the match properties paintbrush to fix things.It's only happening on the current dwg. If I open something else, everything works as normal.I figure I fat fignered something but have no idea what...AutoCad2011-I've been using it for almost a year now without this particular gremlin.Thanks in advance.Robin

Did you check that the linetype is set to "By Layer"?  Sounds like it has been overridden.

Thanks for that....Now I'm wondering how the heck I ever fat fignered the change.... seems to take quite a few really specific keystrokes. AGain, thanks for the quick reply. It really did help.

Hell, I don't even know what a lisp routine is. Much less a custom one.Although I've been using versions of AutoCad for almost twenty years, I'm a cave man. I tend to only learn enough to get my work done.... When I have projects stacked up, (like now) a 70 hour workweek is like a vacation....

If you didn't run a LISP routine then you probably did a linetype override earlier in your work and just forgot about it.

Lisp is a programming language.  Some lisp routines are included with full AutoCAD.  Example: FLATTEN which can be found in Express Tools.  I'm very surprised that someone who has used AutoCAD for 20 years has not heard of AutoLisp or Lisp.

Or you can restart the computer, then empty the cache to try?

The "empty the cache" trick will not solve a linetype problem.

Is this happening in *every* file you work on now, or just in this one particular file?
 
Have you run an AUDIT or a RECOVER operation on this problem file?

Sorry guys.I guess that I wasn't clear in my second post that the suggestion to re-set the "linetype" command worked a charm. I still have no idea how I fat fignered the problem in the first place. To change the linetype seems to take some very specific keystrokes. Hard to do it by mistake.There again, I have been know to do some "drunk drawing"... This forum is a wonderful resource for a "solo act" like me. When not traveling, I work from home and have no one to turn to and ask, "Hey, how come AutoCad is doing ____?"So, thanks again.And before you guys start saying, "Must be nice to work from home..." Be careful what you wish for.... Since Christmas I've had exactly 4 days without doing at least some work. And those days were spent in hospital. An average week for me lately has been 70 hours.

Reset the "linetype" command how?Commands can sometimes be made inoperative using the UNDEFINE command.  Usually that is intentional unless it was included as a part of a custom lisp routine that failed to REDEFINE the command before exiting.I have worked, from time to time, from home for various clients but it is not the norm.  One has to be fairly disciplined to work from home effectively.  You must be one of those people.

John,After thinking about it for a bit, maybe I "bumped" the linetype box while fumbling around with the layer property filter dialog box.... I hadn't used it for a while and had to goof around with it for a bit to get it to work for me.Handy feature for a lot of my drawings. I'll sometimes wind up with more than 200 layers on a more complicated drawing....Edited to add: Although I've been using AutoCad2011 for about a year, I still miss my old R14... Some of the "features" they've added just slow me down. The old layer control dialog box was well ingrained in my brain. Habits are hard to change.

You should consider changing your profile to reflect your use of AutoCAD 2011 and not r14.
