HelloI have switched on the dot line type in Progecad 2011, but when I apply it to a line it is invisible. The appearance in the list of linetypes is blank. The only lines that are working are "Continuous", and "bylayer". I can not seem to get the thickness to change either...Only the colour.Any help in understanding and resolving this would be much appreciated.Tks.C

Could it have something to do with the linetype scale?Which are we talking about thickness or width? There is a difference."Continuous" is a linetype. "ByLayer" is NOT a linetype. Did you consult your Help file?

It didn't take much effort to find either of these via an Internet search.Setting the linetype scale in Progecad.http://www.progesoft.com/en/products/progecad-professional/manual/?pcms=59&pcmt=setting-the-linetype-scaleSetting a layer's lineweight in Progecad.http://www.progecad.us/index.pl?iid=20167

HelloThanks for taking the time to look at this for me. It is appreciated.I had visited the pages you quoted and looked at the help files.I tried using a new drawing and importing additional line types and they functioned correctly. I then went back to my existing drawing and imported an additional line type, albeit with scale problems that I resolved. However the lines I had imported before remain nonfunctional. The "appears as" remains blank and when I apply the style to a line it is invisible. Tried changing scale and colour but to no avail.C

Why would you have to import a linetype? Aren't these linetypes that came with the program or are they custom linetypes you or someone else created? More information required.

When you start a new drawing it only has three or for line types available. There was no dash or dots for example. I added these from the available styles in progecad that were not available for me to use.C

So in other words you did NOT import them you just loaded them. That means the linetype is native to Progecad and therefore should act just line any other non-continuous linetype. Which means that the linetype scale can be adjusted either globally or individually depending on the needs of the user. It also means the color will either be ByLayer (this is really what you want) or it too can be overridden (generally not a good idea). Are you drawing in imperial or metric units? Are there linetypes for imperial and metric units?

HelloI am not sure if the line type is specific to imperial or metric. I am working in metric.I attach a screen shpt showing the drop down menu for the line types. You can see that the "dot" and "Dot2" are also blank against what the line should look like. When I use the line I am getting the blank appearance inserted.I can not see how to remove the lines and try and reload them. I suspect that something went wrong in loading.Grr...Cant attach an image.I have just tried altering the scale from 1, to 0.1, to 0.01.At 1 I have no line showing against the name in the menu. Similarly for 0.1. At 0.01, a dotted line shows as a solid line in the menu, but as a reasonable dotted line in the drw. !2 dots measure a distance of 0.78 metres.I am not sure that this all means but I can at least use the lines now. Many thanks for your help and a better understanding of linetypes.C
