Hi guys please help.
Using ACAD 2007LT and 2009 full versions we have an issue with layering.
We get an external drawing layerd up as required by freeze thaw using layfrz command. However when opening the same drawing (afetr saving and closing that is) the layer state returns to as it was before.
I have tried saving the layer state in the relevant command which works whislt still in the drawing i.e. turning all layers on then restoring to previously saved state however again when we save the drawing, close and open it up again the layer state defaults back to what it was before we made our changes and when I use restore layer state nothing works and generally I lose more information than I had in the first place.
 
I suspect that it is something to do with the options setting in the original external consultants drawing but I cant figure out what it is and am gettign rather frustrated.
Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Are you restoring your layer states in model space or paper space?

Do you use the Layer State Manager or the -Layer command?

Its is layer state manager, the one that used to be a bonus tool but is now incorporated into the layer command.
Its not an issue with that anyway its the fact that the drawing resets itself when opening up after closing that I can get my head round.

Is it just this one drawing you are having the Layer State problem with?

I have just tried VISRETAIN and it has worked, where did you get one from? and what does it mean?
