Is it a "low memory" error or an "out of memory" error?Out of memory errors are typically due to insufficient virtual memory.  VM is also known as the "swap file" which is a space set aside on a hard drive for Windows to swap data in and out of memory when the capacity of physical memory is near or at its peak.  Seems like your IT department needs to do some housekeeping and clean up the space on the network drive you are operating off.

So you have an 9MB drawing and you can open it on your laptop (how much memory?) but not on your desktop. You never answered my question.  Are you seeing an "out of memory" error or not?If you are then the problem has nothing to do with the amount of physical memory per se but more to do with the size/location of the swap file which is also known as virtual memory.

Rendering will definitely tax a system.  Your computer would probably benefit from more RAM.What OS are you running?  Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Someone at another website suggested this as a fix.  I cannot vouch for how well it works as I have 12GB of RAM and no low or out of memory problems.Tools > Options dialog box, System tab, and change Layout Regen Options to
Cache model tab and last layout, click OK and restart AutoCAD
