I have a Joby Gorillapod (a camera tripod) and I lost the metal piece that is used for tightening the release plate on to the head of the tripod. It is circled in red in the image below. The piece moves into the grooves of both the tripod head's body and the release plate that connects to the camera when the screw is turned and holds it in place. I went to a workshop with a CNC and they said they would make it for me if I provide them with a drawing. The metal piece I require is roughly 12mm x 45 mm and has a few grooves and curves. More pictures are provided below showing the original tripod head and mine side by side. What software should I use for the design? Is it possible to do it in AutoCAD? I'm fairly new to CAD since I'm an IT engineer. A friend suggested Solidworks. What should I use and where would I start?Thank you.

Take a look at AutoDesk Fusion 360 - 3D CAD/CAM software for product design.  It's free to a select group of people. The obvious question is what do you have for measurements?
