I have a load of drawings that i'd like to extract some text info from i.e. project name / number, revision etc etc.

as far as im aware, all the drawing title blocks are block references and all have the required text attributes stored within.

How would one go about extracting this info?

You could try using the Data Extraction Wizard.

What version of AutoCAD are you running?

AutoCAD 2010.  OK.

On the Ribbon:

Insert tab >  Linking & Extraction panel >  Extract Data

Command line: dataextraction

are you trying to make drawing list? best tool to do that is by implementing sheet set.

I am using AutoCad2010. Somehow I inadvertently did something that makes dropdown info transparent; for instance, if I use the “measure” command the window that opens with the “distances” is so transparent that depending on what’s on the plan background it’s almost impossible to read. How do I get rid of the transparency?

Hi guys, Inforbix is solving the problem of product data retrieval from CAD systems and other sources (i.e. PDM, PLM, ERP). Specifically, with regards to the question here, we can extract the information from AutoCAD drawings, blocks, etc. and make it available. We are in the early BETA now. You can learn more by navigating on http://inforbix.com. Thanks, Oleg
