I run 2011 lt and when I open some imported dwg and xref it appears feint and milky. Slightly better in paper space. How do I get it back to proper colour? I have tried changing colour in layer manager but it still stays milky.
I run a white background in both model and paper. Black background only slightly better
Any ideas?

Check to see if those layers are locked.

layers not locked but interestingly a young gamer replied on another forum and solved the problem just now by going into options,... display tab... and there was...' fade control'.. box on the bottom right. Slide to the left and hey presto....solved.
I searched the help site and numerous other sourses but none referred to this setting.

Thanks for looking at the prob anyway.

Glad you got it fixed. The reason you probably couldn't find it is because it's a feature new to 2010 and newer. There is plenty of documentation of the feature, it's just hard to find if you don't know what to look for.Anyways... Good Luck!!Here's a good link for anyone else who comes across this: http://themadcadder.blogs.com/my_weblog/2009/05/xref-fade-control.htmlAnd here are a few new system variables for those of you who prefer the command line:http://www.cad-addict.com/2010/01/autocad-2010-new-system-variable-to.html
