Please define what you mean by "ribbon".

a polyline with a global with of .125 that runs along the top and back side of the text box, when you place a frame around text.

I haven't fully explored all the possibilities that multileaders has to offer so I can't answer your question. Perhaps a custom lisp routine might be in order.

Yeah that's what I was thinking but I do not know how to write one as of yet, but am researching.

Maybe this method will work? Requires a custom block. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-CD91C9B6-8793-41D6-B6EE-1F3BC1DF68F2-htm.html

I know a little bit about creating custom hatch patterns. If you want to learn about the topic try finding Ralph Grabowski's three part series (an ebook I think) about creating hatch patterns.
