Hi everyone, After a recent investment in our business we are looking to upgrade our rather aged survey equipment fleet soon and I've been tasked with finding out what the options are for new total station which can export to CAD applications.Does anyone already do this and if so, what make model do you use? Do you have any issues? Do you wish you would have looked at a different make or model yourself?CheersDavid

After some discussions we have decided it may be worthwhile to also look if we could initial hire these types of high-end instruments then once we know what works best we would look to buy new.Can anyone recommend a good tool hire company for high-end survey equipment hire or are there any specialist companies who hire this type of gear out?

Most all total stations now work with CAD applications.  They really wouldn't be very useful otherwise.  I would suggest you talk with your local surveying companies, contractors, and other consultants in your area to see what they've been using.  Find out also who the local equipment representatives are.  Once you have your gear the service and repair, parts, warranty issues, and software support is really important with this gear.  You'll make a heavy investment and will want to maximize it.  If you stay close to the gear that others around you have found reliable the more support you'll have getting up to speed and staying there.Good luck!Dave.
