Greetings. I am working with AutoCAD for the first time. All of the training that I have comes from trial and error and online tutorials. We are using cad for the sole purpose of applying the floor we manufacture to existing .dwg files in only 2D.A little about the process we're using:Our floor consists of three main pieces that are repeated throughout the entire floor area. These were combined as blocks in varying sizes (5 pieces by 5 pieces, 1 piece by one piece, etc) so they can be inserted into the drawing in a much more expedient fashion than inserting each item piece by piece. The five issues that I'm having and could use some guidance on are as follows:
1.  What is the best way to convert PDFs to DWGs with a 100% success rate?

            2.  How do we reconcile the scale of the DWG file to that of the Blocks in our              Library?

            3.  How do we get the Linear Dimension tool to display distances in inches?

            4.  How do we use AutoCAD to generate a piece count of our floor components?

            5.  How do we reconcile the printer settings to print out the selected portion of our     drawing and ensure that it only prints as black lines on white background?I apologize if any of these are excessively easy to solve, but again, I was afforded no actual instruction and any help would be tremendously appreciated.Thank youjasonFAU2008-02-18 21:35:27

There is specialized software out there that is third party, just do a search on google for .dwg converters

As far as the converting to PDF goes..Most newer version of ACAD allow you  plot your file to PDF.
Just go and plot the file as normal...except insted of using your normal plotter file scroll through your plotters and pick "DWG to PDF".

If you don't have that option use this program "CutePDF Writer".  This program is just a simple print driver so it works with everything.

here are some answers

1. Use CutePDF writer as Breeze suggests

2. not sure need more info about your specific problem

3. go to Format : Options : Dimensions or AEC Dimensions - there is a heading called units, under it is an option called Dimensions in, select inches

4. Some third partie softwares will create counts of each block you place into a drawing

5. You can print extents, window, or other options under the plot area.  Then select the carrot on the bottom right to show more options and under plot style table select monochrome to print in black and white

hope this helps
