Hello, I am new to CAD drawings.  My
requirements are (I think) pretty basic.   I need to be able to open
existing .dwg files, which will be floor plans of buildings, and add
icons for showing locations of items to be installed on the floor plan.It
appears that AutoCAD LT is sufficient for my needs.   Any opinions? Also,
how intuitive is the program?   Do I need to take a training class?
I'm farily computer savvy.Any recommendations or helpful
advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

From the sounds of it, you're correct, LT should be sufficient for your current needs. You can, however, check this document to make sure that all of your needs are met with LT: AutoCAD versus AutoCAD LTGood Luck!!

I don't think you need to go to the expense of purchasing Autocad LT. ProgeCAD is only about half the price of LT, and is almost identical. And DoubleCAD XT is free. I would encourage you to take a look at those two programs before making a purchase.
