Hello all,I am currently using AutoCAD LT 2013.  A building contractor sent me the building layout for a new manufacturing facility.  I can open the .dwg file, but I am having trouble drawing additional lines.  I am coming up with a floor layout, but I can't seem to draw anything.  When I start a new project I can draw without an issue. Also,  I am looking for guidance when it comes to machine placement.  I remember seeing another industrial engineer with 2d machines already drawn and inserted into a layout.  At this moment I am looking for pallet racking I can import into my floor model.  Does anything like this exist?  I thought there mite be a library with pre-drawn machines.Thank you,Alex

There is no library of pre-drawn machines.  In all likelihood the industrial engineer either created his own blocks/symbols, downloaded them from a website like this (CADForum) where someone else drew and uploaded them for others like yourself to use for free, or he bought a symbol library from a 3rd-party provided.  My guess it was either of the first two.  Most people want it for free. Can't draw anything?  Is the layer you are trying to draw on locked?

<< .... I can't seem to draw anything ....

Is the current Layer turned off?  As unlikely as anyone would be to do that intentionally, it's possible to achieve that, under certain circumstances.

I'm on the same page as Kent.  If you can open the drawing there should be no reason why you can't create new objects.Try this:  Open the layers palette and set Layer 0 current.  Then create a new layer and make it current.  Now try and draw something.  This does assume that Layer 0 has been effectively left alone in the drawing you got.  Dave.
