Can anyone help me. I use AutoCAD 3D 2014 and a typical file size is around 120,000 KB and it takes along time to compile a drawing and print or PDF the file. My Boss wants to find out why? So I thought I would ask those who might now the answer. Do I need a faster computer? Are xrefs being used?Are layer filters being used?Do you routinely -purge and audit your drawings?3D?  Are materials being applied and are you then subsequently rendering the drawing?What else is running in the background when you are working in AutoCAD?Have you changed utilized the 3DConfig command re: hardware acceleration?Have you run a thorough virus scan of your computer?What are your hard drive specs?Are you working off a network or on a standalone workstation?From all outward appearances you should not be having an problems regarding the speed of your computer.

"All my CAD files are stored and run on this local computer but it is linked to our Network"

You said these were 3D drawings.  How is it that you don't know whether or not you applied any materials either directly or via layers?  Have you ever actually rendered a 3D drawing?Is the CommCenter (a.k.a. - the InfoCenter) enabled?  If so, disable it.Code is "compiled"; drawings are not.Is this more a problem with printing your drawings?  Perhaps due to whether or not you spool your drawings?Re: hardware related questions you can't answer should be put to someone in IT.Sorry but I have to head out for supper.  If I have a chance I'll check back later.
