I have a real dumb question. how do you chage the orgin in 3ds max? I wish to creat splines or lines in the front view however i can only draw on the xy plane. I need to create in the xz plane. Thanks

If you have your viewport set to "Front" then you are drawing in the XZ plane.Front view = XZ planeTop view = XY planeLeft or Right view = YZ planeJust look at the little icon in the lower left corner of the viewport.

As
always I appreciate your help! I do realize what your are saying however I was
in the front view trying to create a line that was not displaying when i
realized that it was stuck on the xy plan in the top view. I wasn't until I
created a plane in the left view that it allowed me to make a line in that
view. I run into strange little quirks like this it seems. Thanks

Let me put it this way. If i were to create a plane and then rotate the plane on the x axis 45 degrees, how can i create circles or lines on that plane?

Use AutoGrid. This will allow you to draw splines or primitives on faces that are at odd angles.

That will work. Thank you!
