I am using R-14 and when I make pdf files to send out to contractors for bidding purposes I have to split up the dwg. files into separate e-mails, which is a pain. I am using xrefs in my sheets. Are xrefs the problem? When I print out my xrefs that I make i notice that the xref boxes show up in the preview and it also on the print. I have received other dwgs (xrefs) from other architects and their files are a lot smaller in size. Is it possibly due to the fact that they are using 2007 or higher? There is a size factor difference of about 5 to 1 or more. I do have 2007, but am having a plotting issue with it, so its back to r-14. I really like R-14 and hate to part with it. I guess i'm one of those old school people that hates change. But will if i could figure 2007 out. Thank you all in advance for any and all help with this situation, as the boss is getting very upset with having to e-mail all these separate files individually to contractors. What is your drawing file size?Do you have a lot of jpg or tif images inserted in your drawing?Have your run a PURGE and AUDIT lately?What pdf writer are you using?What is the average file size of the pdf's being produced?What text font are you using in your drawings? I have found that if you have a lot of text in your drawing, using the Arial font, your pdf file size will go through the roof. If you're using Arial, try changing your text to Romans or some other font.But I would definitely get your 2007 issues sorted out. R14 is a dinosaur.

The sheet file before converting to pdf is 198KB and after it jumped to 2478KB. Something is wrong here with the PDF converter. I paid good money for this program.

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro at work and Cutepdf at home. But I'm running Autocad 2011 and 2010, so I don't have any issues with pdf file sizes. They stay relatively small. You could get the trial version of Acrobat Pro and try it out. Or try Cutepdf, it's free.But as I said before, it would be best if you can get 2007 working. What problems are you having?
