I wondered if anyone could help with this one! Part of my job is to set some CAD standards in the office and one of them is to get a plot style and particular linetypes onto our server so that everyone in the office will all be using the same standards when we need to plot dwgs. Is this a simple thing to do once we have our plot settings agreed and if so how could I get these onto the server for everyone to access. Any help will be most appreciated.

First thing to do is to create a template drawing that has your particular layers set to your company colors, linetypes and standards. If you need to create specific style line types. There are great tutorials you can grab off the web that can walk you thru to create linetypes with text, or using shape files. when you have that created you can save it in a company standard folder on your server where everyone can access it.  I am the one in charge of company standards for my company and I have a short cut set up on my co workers computer so when they go to create a new drawing and the Autodesk template folder pops up within that folder is the short cut to the template on the server this way if I have to up date the template everyone will have access to it immediately and everyone will have the current one.  As far as the plot styles you can create one and save it on the server and then this way everyone can load it on their computer in the Autodesk plot style manager folder located in your control panel. if you need some examples you can email me and I can send you some.  MsplcdYkee69@yahoo.com I hope this helps. msplcdykee692009-01-08 03:23:35

Thanks so much for your help with this. I would like some examples to get me started if you would be so kind to send some. I will send you an email later from my home email address. I am currently doing a customisation course at college and I have done line types, shape files etc. Now moving onto Auto LISP for my exam - not nice!
I have used a few great tutorials on CAD digest and they have helped me inmmensley with all the college work I have to learn!
