This may be impossible but...

I have a 2D drawing showing all the desks in my building. Each desk has a number. The desk numbers are all on their own layer and each number is coloured to show which comms room the desk is cabled to.

When I hover over the number or select an individual desk number is it possible to have a small text box or label pop up? I want to be able to show the cable & port details for the desk in the pop-up text box or label.

If this can be done, can anyone point me in the right direction to achieve this please?

Now if I want to be really clever, it would be great if the information in the text box or label could be read from an Excel list. I.e. If I hover over, or select desk number 1021, the cable & port information for that desk is automatically read from the Excel sheet.

I probably have up to 5000 desk numbers to 'pop' in this manner.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

It could probably be done with a custom lisp routine (the text box or pop up as you call it).  Not sure about the second part.See Lee Mac's Dynamic Information tool.  It works on attributed blocks.http://lee-mac.com/dinfo.htmlJohn Connor2012-12-17 14:41:00

OK thanks for the response but I'm afraid that means nothing to me...

I guess I was rather hoping there was something similar to adding a comment to a cell in Excel.
