Hidden lines never print anyway... so if you want those to plot you will have to use some other linetype.Dave.

thanks alot,Mr.Dave.its mean, if we want to print the 3d object include intersect area (let say ; cuting list of assembly fabrication) ,are we must redraw/modify it one by one to be as we want? ?? thank so much for your helpfull

Hello sungik, if you want to print hiddenlines you can generate a 2D object ( following a certain UCS seting ) with the command FLATSHOT with the option hidden lines.
Then you will have to separate the visible lines from the hidden lines with the command QSELECT.
Then I would also do an OVERKILL on each layer separately with all the options to eliminate the lines in double.
Tell us about your tests and questions...

Where does it say you can't see hidden lines in a 3D model?

Hello N° 2 sungik, there are so many things to do, to know without it being teached or/and easy with AutoCAD 3D and it looks like we are not so many to use ( compared with Solidworks, Inventor, etc... ) that I enjoy each occasion to talk with 3D AutoCAD men.
I'm a "self made" AutoCAD 3D man ( mainly with the paper book of the R13 release year 1995 ).
What kind of studies, drawings are you doing, do you use dimensionning in the model space or paper space.
Do you know the commands : SWEEP, SECTION, SLICE or eventally others of your own practice that would be usefull ?
John + sungik, when you talk about hidden lines, I guess that you are talking about dashed lines ( I think that it is if not you wouldn't have thanked me for the FLATSHOT command ).philippe JOSEPH2014-02-11 11:34:40

Yes, I'm talking about lines that are dashed in a 3D model.  Not talking 2D....3D.

I don't see why not.

John, if you don't see why not, I don't see HOW !
I know how to have different visual styles but I don't know how to have this particuliar one with that so wanted hidden dashed lines.
John, if you don't see why not, I don't see HOW !
I know how to have different visual styles but I don't know how to have this particuliar one with that so wanted hidden dashed lines.
OK...calm down.  It ain't all that difficult. You need to set the VSOBSCUREDEDGES system variable to "1".  The default is "0"  To change the type of line that is being displayed as hidden look at the VSOBSCUREDLTYPE system variable.  The values go from 1 to 11.  This is covered in your AutoCAD Help file.Feeling better now?

John, I can see the light !!!
I haven't tested all the settings of all the commands/variables listed here above.
I'd like to have the equivalent of the FLATSHOT command i.e. all the visible lines + all the hidden/dashed lines without the "color" of the volumes.philippe JOSEPH2014-02-12 09:43:23

I don't understand your reference to the "color of the volumes".Why aren't you using a 3DHidden visual style?

servicesdrafting

You need to use other line type.

John + servicesdrafting, it doen't make doubts for me that I'm not making the good settings.
I succeded in having that image that you see with an opened port + :
The settings : Image filaire 2D ( aprox. wired 2d image ) + VSOBSCUREDEDGES : 6.
When I print I get a dark plot including hidden/dashed lines ( not a white image with only visible and hidden/dashed lines line with a FLATSHOT ).

Servicesdrafting, it looks like you could give me informations for a good plot.....
Thanks in advance.

I think I'm going to need a translation.First change your background to white.  If you need something other than an isometric view of your 3D model, like a top or side view, then use FLATSHOT.  That makes the most sense.

Yeah John, I have found where to find your visual styles on my screen, and it's with a clic where the red arrow is.
It's never too late.philippe JOSEPH2014-03-21 15:57:15
