No, Revit commands are selected in the ribbons (menus). But you can define keyboard shortcuts in Revit and type in commands like VG, RO, etc.
thankyou for your help but how do i set up these short cut keys as i am new to the revit any help would be gratefully recieved

It depends on the Revit version - in the latest Revit 2011 you can define the shorcuts using R > Options > User interface > Configure > Keyboard shortcuts.
In older Revit versions these shortcuts are defined in the text file KeyboardShortcuts.txt you have to edit manually.
