"In science, 'fact' can only mean 'confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.' I suppose that apples might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal time in physics classrooms."— Stephen Jay Gould (1941 - 2002)
I personally chipped in to rLoop's Indegogo campaign as soon as I learned they were using Autodesk Fusion 360 to start designing a Hyperloop pod.
Remember when Elon Musk proposed a Hyperloop that would transfer people from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 30 minutes? Formed on social media site Reddit, rLoop.org is a non-student team that reached the final stage of the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition and is pursuing successful manufacture of their Hyperloop pod to make safe, cost-effective, and efficient high-speed transit a reality.
I was thrilled to be able to meet the team at Autodesk University (AU) 2017. Here's a video, taken at #AU2017, that shows their technology in action.
At the beginning of October, rLoop announced that they are taking their community onto the Blockchain — a digital ledger in which transactions made in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency are recorded chronologically and publicly. Their new website is now live, and you can check it out at www.rloop.org where you can view a one pager and learn more about their plans.
Autodesk has always been an automation company, and today more than ever that means helping people make more things, better things, with less; more and better in terms of increasing efficiency, performance, quality, and innovation; less in terms of time, resources, and negative impacts (e.g., social, environmental). It's great to see teams like rLoop making that idea reality.
Hyperactivity is alive in the lab.
