In ACAD 2011, how can I set *FREEORBIT* (similar to Inventor) as my default?Currently, the default is *ORBIT*, and I hate it, I constantly change it- I'm an Inventor junkie forced to use ACAD 3D

Press "2", or press Shift, or right-click and select Free orbit.

And that will PERMANENTLY change the default? Figured it was some sort of system setting option...

Nope, that did not do anything. Still reverts to *ORBIT*.*2* is an unknown command.*SHIFT* + select free orbit doesnt work either. My right click is set to repeat last command.

You can use ctrl + shift + mid button of your mouse.Or do you want to assign it to other button? You need to do it by modifying CUI.

I have tryed to modify the CUI But he don't accept the changes... So I don't think it is possible to modify it by the CUI.... But is it so hard just to press 2?

No no no, you guys im trying to set *freeorbit* as my DEFAULT 3D rotation tool.No shift key, no pressing 2, nothing. And YES, it DOES suck that bad...if your used to full function 3D platform such as Inventor or SolidWorks, instead of autocad's 3D hackjob ;)

And how you want to activate your 3d rotation tool? By pressing F4 then click your mouse?

From the looks of it tulip3D, what you are trying to do is not an option. One reason  (I think) could be because you cannot edit objects while in 3D Free Orbit. If it were me, I would spend some time reviewing all of the system variables (SETVAR > ? > *) to see if maybe there is a variable for it.In 2009, I see:  3DCONVERSIONMODE  1  3DDWFPREC         2  3DSELECTIONMODE   1Doesn't look like any of those will help, sorry.Good Luck!!HAWDesigner2010-12-13 17:54:00

Thanks for the input! I figured I may be SOL, LOL.Im not even sure how to access all the system varibles...tried your 'SYSVAR' you listed, no luck...unknown command...using 2011, maybe thats why that command doesn't work? Oh well. lets bury this friggin thread, lol

I just realized this website keeps an updated Variable list. You
can check them all out here: http://www.cadforum.cz/variable
