Im working on windows 7 , autocad 2012
Plotter = HP Designjet T2300

The plotter is great , but some plans i have to plot (pdf or dwg) take forever (up to an hour) to load and to get plotted . When i look on the lcd interface , the file is sometimes 90 Mb when plotted . This is very strange for me because when i look at the file size in my windows explorer , my file is mostly well below 2Mb . (sometimes a 80 Kb dwg file becomes 40Mb in plotter menu) or (2Mb pdf becomes 90Mb)

Is there some things that influence that ?
I use PURGE now and then to keep my files small .

Strangely this is not with all pdf and/or dwg files.
And there is no apparent difference that i see .

Anybody that can point me in the right direction ?

Hello ,

print spooling is active .
my pc has 6Gb RAM , and 1Gb ram on vga-card .
TMP files have not been cleaned out .

Some of the xrefs in the drawings have large hatches .
Maybe this could be a reason ??

The xref's are very likely the issue.  You can easily have a file that appears to be 2 Mb, but if it has a couple of very large xrefs riding along with it they have to go to the printer too.  And that will cause the file size to balloon as far as your printer/plotter is concerned.Dave.

My file is about 1Mb large , all the xrefs are 5Mb together . If i Etansmit my whole drawing (with all xrefs) , my zipfile is about 8Mb , but when i plot it , the printer menu shows me a plotfile of 90 Mb ?.?..

What product are you using?  Is it AutoCAD LT, the full version of AutoCAD, or one of the verticals, specifically AutoCAD Architectural?
