What program was used to create the solid in the first place?  What is the file extension?

I've not yet created the solid, when I find the right software I'll build-up from scratch.

Programs that you might want to consider are...-AutoCAD-Fusion 360-Inventor-SolidworksBut first you have to acquire the program then you have to learn it well enough to construct your solid model before you can do anything else with it.What will you be modeling? What is the purpose of removing slices of the model?

I want to print working 3d models with joints created in a single printing sessionI was planning to convert some perfect fitting solid model into a model with loose gaps between the various partsThe work to modify only the parts forming the joints it's a bit long and a simply way could be to "erode" all the partsI tried most of trial software around but couldn't find any way to do this process

Work backwards starting with the 3D printer.  What software does the manufacturer of the printer recommend for creating 3D models?
