Hi guys/girlsI am trying to export a drawing as .sat but not all components are visible when it is opened up. I've tried exploding objects, re-creating objects etc but to no avail.I get this message "Ignored 163 objects that are not regions, solids or ShapeManager bodies."Any ideas?

The objects in your drawing have to match the three listed. If they don't then they are not exported. It is as simple as that. Open your drawing, find and erase all objects that do not match the criteria. Save the drawing under a new name. Open the drawing and export as a .sat file from there.

Hello geof, what is the use for that export towards .sat ?I suppose that you want to give it for an other person that doesn't have AutoCAD but : Solidworks, ProE ...We are talking about 3D, OK ?May be your file can be open as a dwg file but with the good options.Tell use more about the use of it.

As far as know they need it in 3D CAD Model, .STEP or .SAT format. When I open the drawing in inventor it doesn't let me save it in any other format other than .dwg..

Ok Great, the objects that aren't exporting are blocks I have imported. Can I convert them to match those properties or do I need to re-create them from scratch?

3D blocks?

Hello Geoff, I don't know much about Inventor but if it's like Solidworks the files that you can convert to .sat are the PARTS or ASSEMBLY files and not the DRW files.
I also had the problems with .sat comming from Inventor that gave me nothing when imported in AutoCAD ( a pity because Inventor and AutoCAD are both from Autodesk ).
I could open them with Solidworks, save them as .sat and then import them in AutoCAD as good 3D volumes.
Are those faulty "blocks" real volumes and not surfaces or lines ?
In your profile you declare AutoCAD 2014 but you are talking about making an export from Inventor?
When I give 3D files for Solidworks or ProE it's working with AutoCAD WITH THE GOOD OPTIONS WHEN OPENING IT ON SOLIDWORKS ( there are 3 pannels with setings to select to choose volumes, millimeters etc... ).
I use that pannels when opening a .sat comming from Inventor on Solidworks.
I give a special file with exploded blocks ( but not exploded volumes because they turn to lines, arcs, ellipses only ).
For Solidworks I rotate the file 2 times so that Solidworks will open it in the same view ( AutoCAD default view is a plan view and Solidworks default view is an elevation view so that when you give for example a truck sited on its wheel it comes on it nose on Solidworks ).

Yes John.

Wouldn't they have to be exploded first before you could access the 3D model?

Only solid objects (bodies) are exported to SAT. You may need to first convert yout mesh or wire objects to solids.
