I taped a silhouette to the screen and using the "line" command traced the silhouette to a new acad sheet.  When I printed   the new drawing it was, as I expected to a different scale.  I measured the original silhouette and the printout to determine a scale factor.  I applied this factor to the drawing and and printed a new drawing.  The "Y" axis seemed to scale OK but the "X" was not close.  Is it possible to trace an image into acad?  Thanks, Tom

One way to "trace" an image would be to use a digitizer and puck.  But first one must calibrate the screen pointing area before proceeding.  Another option would be to take a picture of the silhouette and using the command AttachImage insert the image into your drawing then trace over it after which you can rescale the object to match the original.

Scan the image and insert it. Then trace over it. If you have the dimensions of the original then you can measure your tracing then scale it by reference.Select ScaleSelect objectsSelect a base pointType REnter a dimension from your tracehit enterthen type the measurement you want it to beYou should now have your trace at the correct size. If it didn't perfectly scale, run the steps again and it'll be perfect.
