Hi Guys,

I have a friend who is looking into buying AutoTurn software
(swept path analysis software) for a project that he may be starting in the
near future. He is currently using a dodgy copy of AutoCAD (as he is still in
the learning stage and is not currently using it for any financial gain etc)

He is wondering that if he purchases AutoTurn add on
software, whether it will pick up that he is not using a genuine AutoCAD program
and may not work / cause problems etc?

any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What exactly is your friend using? Is it an illegal copy of AutoCAD?Is it an educational version of AutoCAD?Or is it an AutoCAD clone?

I'm guessing he downloaded it from a torrent site (i.e. Illegal copy)I did explain to him that you could use an educational version, but he had already installed it.

No problems at all.  "He is wondering that if he purchases AutoTurn add on software, whether it will pick up that he is not using a genuine AutoCAD program and may not work / cause problems etc?"

He shouldn't be using illegal software in the first place.  There are free and low cost AutoCAD clones available if you can't afford the real thing.

You are right John, He shouldn't be using an illegal copy. But I guess he didn't know what options he had. He is fairly new to the CAD game and so was simply looking to gain some experiance and a bit of 'hands on' knnowledge before he jumps in and spends some cash.
