Greetings,When drawing walls on a floor plan in AutoCAD would you just draw the rough framing depth or would you polyline it and draw the wall with its respective finishes? Ex. 2x4 Wall w/ 1/2" drywall both sides. Would you draw the wall depth on the floor plan at 3 1/2" or would you draw the wall depth at 4 1/2"? I have heard differences within the industry and from architects.

Generally floor plans indicate finished wall thickness as far as I know. At least that is the way I was taught in an architectural drafting and design class and the way the architect who drew up the plans for our new addition did it.

I draw finished dimensions on all interior walls (4-1/2").Exterior walls, I draw (a 2x4 wall) 4" (finished inside, unfinished outside. i.e: face of ext. stud = face of found wall).
