Display full version of the post: Which aspect ratio is best?

Right now Im using a 19" viewsonic for CAD drawings...a 4:3 CRT running CAD '04, and looking to increase the DISPLAYED drawing size significantly.  However, am not sure as to how the 16:9 format suits CAD.

To increase VIEWING AREA (for erection drawings, not 3D modeling) of the drawings, what would be the best upgrade from a 19" standard?  A 22" wide...or 22" 4"3?  I suppose its a scaling question in regards to CAD more than anything.  Which would you get better results with...and what are the benefits with either aspect ratio?

I guess ideally I would like to be able to manipulate the CAD taskbars to move to the left or right side of the screen...and free up area in the top and bottom...and increase viewing area for the drawings while upgrading to a 16:9, but was wondering how other people who have made the switch think about it.

Simply put, which aspect ratio suits CAD users better...standard ratio...or widescreen.
