Hello Rain14, if your friend can't open your file it's maybe because he uses an other AutoCAD release ( AutoCAD2008 and not your AutoCAD 2009 ).
Do you PURGE your files ?
Do you SCALELISTDELALL ypur files ?
If your files are 25 mb it's because of the complexity of them, are they 2D or 3D ?
If they are "only" 2D you could simplify them by using BLOCKs.
If they are 3D you can also use BLOCK.
If you explose 3D or use FLATSHOT you will have to use OVERKILL on the 2D object that you create.
When using OVERKILL you will erase dashed lines in double with continuous lines and I sujest you separating them with QSELECT before.
Tell us it this helped or not.

I think you should take a look at the number of linetypes being loaded.

Got the same problem in one project before but after searching for long time I found the solution to reduce the cad filebut I still have same problem after a while files keep bigger after adding changes & modification ,then I had to go back back to my reducer solution at least it come lower from 10 mb to 1 mb.. step 1:try to save as your file to dxf file lower version note: change the name_ sample 1.dxf (don't panic it will be more bigger)step 2:(PU)Purge your file try to clean it after CTRL+S quick save then close.step 3 : Re-open your file 1.dxf and save it back to the original file dwg name sample 1-project.dwg  PROBLEM SOLVED!!!Repeat the procedure you will notice that from 100% bigger to absolute 20% reduce file .Hope I save your day thanks toCAD Forum...

If you are going to use the purge command then utilize the command line version which is -purge and purge Regapps first.  Repeat the command, -purge, but this time do a purge > all.  Run an Audit of the file too and have AutoCAD correct any database errors it finds.

Did you check how many linetypes are loaded as I asked previously?Did you run OVERKILL on the drawing?

Yes and it took a 590 overlapping lines so yes ty it took out to linetypes but the dwg is still almost the same sise

Sorry jcyes there was at least 600 or so  those types of linetype dgn  and we tried a hotfix ddl from autodesk it got ri of those, but not allbut with the automatically purge orphan data box checked in the purge command the files get 10 times smaller that is in version 15 thanks with your patience like i said i have 10 users that i am running all over the place to fix their problems so my responses could seem out of frameHave a nice dayPierre

Hello Rain14, A few months ago, I've had the same problem. A new empty drawing, was already 7mb big.  I have found an Autocad Hotfix. With this file you need to overwrite 2 files in your Autocad map. After doing this, you can open your big drawing in Autocad. If you use the command "dgnlspurge", Autocad shall delete all the invisible linetypes. The size of the empty drawing of mine wasn't 7mb anymore but 67kb!! I've add the hotfix file included the readme to this post uploads/476408/AutoCAD_2013_2014_DGN_Hotfix.zip

The linetypes aren't invisible.  They are listed in the LTYPE dialog box.

It would take you about 5 seconds to check linetypes like I asked (three times).  I don't know why you refuse to do so.  My participation in this thread is done.  Good luck solving your problem.
