I am trying to convert to XGP files instead of using the old menu drop downs any ideas on how to create XGP files example for bringing in CAD blocks electrical and mechanical symbols.

Classic mode?  Forget that.The article by Ellen Finkelstein covers how to create a XPG file.  Follow the instructions.
