If one is unfamiliar with a program and the general terminology that goes with its use then "wording it wrong" is not unusual.

Flatshot does not convert anything and it is not the only method for extracting 2D views from 3D models.

No, that is an image.  By drawing I meant an actual AutoCAD DWG file.

Without a copy of the drawing I can't advise you on what to do to fix the problem.

I managed to get the drawing right as per your instructions. Can't imagine how you could have a problem like that.  Circle command and the M2P command modifier to locate the circle exactly in the center of the base and you're done.  Do the same for the top circle then use the LOFT command and pick the two circles.  The result will be a solid you can subtract from the cube.
