When scale is of no concern then by all means plot "To Fit".

John I knew that you were to say this but I use it every day to print alternatively in A3 paper sizes that are A0 or A1 or dirrectly A0 or A1, etc...
A3 is currently used for us in the offices and A0 are used in sites or workshops.
Fit to paper will make no differences when you launch any paper size.
If you have a big plotter but with exact size ( roll paper width 841 mm to print a A0 = 1189x841 or
a A1 841X594 ) it will be OK ( scale will not be exact but your boss bought 841 mm width and not 914 mm = 36" to recut ).
The only thing that you have to do is set the good printed area.
No problems with this AutoCAD allows you to have various way to do different jobs.

Plotting from a layout is usually done at a scale of 1:1 since the viewport itself is assigned a scale.

Personally, I would not plot using the "To Fit" option unless scale makes no difference.

Are you plotting from a layout or from model space.

What size paper are you plotting to?

when i go to plot my drawing it seems to have a default plot scale of 1;10000 why doesnt it let me just put 1:1 !!
