I think some training would be in order so everyone gets off on the right foot.  Set something up with your local AutoDesk dealer.  Maybe have it done "in-house" (less disruption and you can use real-world examples of what you are dealing with).

OK, Thanks for the quick reply. I suppose this has been coming for a long time, but I can see some stumbles on the way as the trades that need to interpret the drawings adjust to this format. Still waiting to see what the field copies are going to look like.

No, AutoCAD cannot open Revit drawings.  Someone using Revit would have to export their drawing as a DWG file for your company to open it.

Hello, Newbe here.
I work at a company that does shop drawings for mechanical contractors. We have always used AutoCad and were always able to communicate with the other trades, engineers and architects thru that medium.
Lately we have had requests to accept revit drawings. As of yet we have not had an opportunity to see if we can even read them, let alone work with them with our current software and knowledge base.
So i am seeking advise. Can AutoCad read the revit drawing format so we can do the required shop drawings, and will we need to upgrade and re-school for this new system sooner or later ?
