what virus scanner do you use? if you have McAffee, when you scan it will delete a config file that is used by object properties. It was happening to me. The best thing to do is re-install autocad, and put all autocad files on a safe list within McAffee. Check the pickfirst variable.

recently i haven't been able to access the Object Properties window. I used to select an object, then click the Object Properties icon (the little pointing hand) and a properties window would pop up. lately this is not happening.
