good day john,

i dont have the topo graphical area for the location site of the project, and i dont even have the local specification requirement of our province, but i do have the order to just draw or make a design o f a simply gas station.

Still haven't answered any of my questions. What is it with people who ask for help but supply little in the way of responses when questions are put to them? Is it some kind of cultural thing?

hello john,

this aint school assignment, but i was trying to figure out how to do this because i was appointed to make a design. this is my very first time in this kind of project. I am just a plain cadd draftsman and my boss has just given me to try me. hehehehe

Why would you take on a project like this if you have no idea where to begin or how to proceed? Is this a school assignment?

Well think about it. What would a good gas station design require?

-A parcel of land with at least two ways to enter/leave the site.
-A building of some sort.
-One or more "islands" with two pumps.
-A canopy over the gas pumps possibly? If there is a canopy you'll need columns to support it.
-Concrete filled bollards to protect the pumps from being hit by a vehicle.
-Underground storage tanks for the petrol.
-Utility locations such as electric, water, sewer, storm drainage, other.
-Above ground access (fill) points for unloading petrol from a tanker truck to the underground storage tanks.
-Site lighting.
-Plantings.
-Fire protection system in the event of a fire (mostly for sites where there are several pump islands.
-Signage and pavement markings.
-Maybe an air filling station so drivers can put air in their tyres.

So, how big is the site you are working on?
What drawings are you being asked to prepare? Ex. - site plan, foundation, elevations, utilities, traffic, lighting, etc.? What details will you be including?
How many gas pumps will there be?
What are the zoning regulations for the area?
What other information can you provide?
Will the gas station also have a bay or bays for repairs or perhaps an integrated convenience store? Either way you'll probably need to set aside some space for parking too.

If you want to see what a gas station site plan looks like simply do a search on the phrase then click on the word "Images" in your browser. You'll find plenty of examples. Here's one I found....

One last thing, most municipalities publish design guidelines for gas stations that must be followed in order to obtain final approval before entering the construction phase. It is likely that a visit to your local building department, planning & zoning department and whatever agency handles environmental concerns would be in your best interest. Here is an example of one such set of guidelines for the city of Scottsdale, Arizona in the United States.
