I guess it's expensive for an individual but really its not that expensive as a work tool. Sadly, I believe you can't really avoid it. As an end user, you could set up vault at your home with a local server and it works but for it to be a reliable and easily accessible piece of hardware for work it's better to set it up like they ask you to.

Yes, licensing doesn't not influence the program functionality. And Inventor 2020 is compatible with Vault 2020.

Just make sure you stay on Win10 with these 6 years old versions of CAD/PDM software.

I have a permanent licens on inventor 2020
Now I have pay Autodesk for subscription for a rented Vault (software is 2020)

Can these 2 programs run together without problems?
