    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.cadforum.cz/forum_en/member_profile.asp?PF=20343">umesh.rao</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1531<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 12.Jan.2009 at 11:43<br /><br />You can use the SOLPROF command.<br>create a seperate layer for the 3d model yo have created.<br><br>You must be in a Layout to use SOLPROF.<br><br>Then modelspace viewport must be active to use SOLPROF.<br>(Use MVIEW and MSPACE commands to go to modelspace viewport )<br><br>Select the view you want from the 'VIEW&gt;3DVIEW'<br>zoom out/in as required.<br><br>Now use SOLPROF command<br>select the object and press enter<br>accept the defaults.<br><br>switch over to model tab<br>switch off the layer which has the 3Dmodel.<br>Now you can see the profile of the model in 2D<br>By default all visible edges are placed in separate layer normally named as "PV-???" and all hidden edges are placed  in separate layer normally named as "PH-???"<br>The profiles will be placed along the appropriate planes (x-y for top, y-z for right, x-z for front)<br>You can use 3DROTATE command to orient the views appropriately and position them to get true 2D drawings.<br><br>Of course, this is bit tedious when compared with solidworks.<br><br><img src="https://www.cadforum.cz/forum_en/smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Thumbs%20Up" /><br><br>]]>

I already know how to use the "section" command but this process is very labor intensive to achieve what I would like to do and I cannot create a 2D isometric view with this command.<br><br>Essentially I would like to create layout views with dimensions for shop drawings. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know.<br><br>Thank you<br>]]>
