When you're dimensioning objects in your drawing, sometimes the extension lines of the dimensions end up crossing each other. This can make it hard to tell exactly what line belongs to what -- especially in a crowded drawing. But since AutoCAD LT 2008, you've been able to "break" dimension lines without actually exploding or disassociating the dimension. (Because you'd never do that, right?)This handy command can be found on the Dimensions Panel of the Annotate tab, or as DIMBREAK on the command line. It is NOT the same as the BREAK command, which actually splits objects and doesn't work on dimensions. Simply select the dimension to be broken, then the object(s) to use to break it. What's more, when the breaking geometry is moved or deleted, the broken dimension automatically updates by either moving the break or removing it. Oh, and the object you use to break the dimension doesn't have to be another dimension -- any object will work. You can even break the actual dimension line instead of the extension line if you want.
