Use DBLCLKEDIT system variable must be on and the PICKFIRST system variable must be on (set to 1, the default) for double-clicking to work.

Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately I still have the same issue. Double click editing is definitely activated in the options panel but it still won't work.
Any other suggestions anyone?

I would say go to 'tools', 'options', 'user preferences' then in the area 'windows standard behavior', click on 'right click customization'.

Can anyone help please?
