NOW, what scale is dominant for your layout viewports? Let's say it's 1/8" = 1'-0". Go into modelspace and set your CANNOSCALE to that. Modelspace stays 1:1, but any line you draw now will look the same in modelspace as it would look in a 1/8" scale layout viewport. If you change CANNOSCALE to 1 1/2" = 1'-0" the linetype will look the same as it would in a 1 1/2" scale layout viewport, etc etc. It doesn't change the linetype scale, just the way it views in modelspace. Remember to add the override to your fenceline if you determined you needed it.

 

PSLTSCALE = 1 is what sets it so that the linetype appears the same across all of your layout viewports even if they are of different scales. CELTSCALE is what AutoCAD draws new lines at, but is multiplied by LTSCALE, which is the globale scale factor. This can all get really tricky, which is why I start with everything at 1 and try to limit my linetype overrides. Let's say your fenceline only looks good at a scale of 2. Then set CELTSCALE to 2 only to draw the fenceline, but set it back to 1 after. Or come back later and do the overrides only. Or do one and then use PAINTER to apply the properties to the rest.

I done a drawing with the fence line type  and changed the ltscale so that you can see the detail in model space, which is roughly the correct size.

 

When you view it in paper space at scale 1:200 you can just see a straight line.  I tried it in other scales and there's no change.

 

It's probably something easy to sort.

 

I've not really used ltscale much, so any help or tips would be most grateful.
