At any Command prompt to locate a point, enter mtp or m2p.

First point of mid: Specify a point

Second point of mid: Specify a second point

As for what Ron C said, but you don't have to draw a line, simply pick the two points on the outsides of the distance to be divided. Then use the Node Snap to snap at each point. Also, instead of drawing a line and snapping to the center, try Snap mid between points, cuts out a line command.

The command you are looking for is Divide.  But, first set the veriable PDMODE to a node of your liking, I use 99.  You may have to set PDSize to a size that will show up.  After this draw a line then use the Divide command.   Watch the command area and it will ask you for the number of segments to divide the line into.

Is there a tool that will give you the centre (/2) ordivide by any number between two points, ideally leaving some sort of mark tosnap to later. At present I draw a temp line and either break it in half orsnap to the midpoint.
