[VAR]PICKFIRST[/VAR] controls whether you select objects before (noun-verb selection) or after you issue a command.

I don't think I've ever seen a situation where I've needed to turn pickfirst off, but for some reason the system likes turning it off by itself sometimes.

pickfirst was set at 0. i changed it to 1 and now everything is good. You're probably gonna kick yourself when you see this, but the variable is [var]DBLCLKEDIT[/var]. Make sure that is turned ON and you should be good to go.
