I had a very dense line pattern on my hatch to form a solid. I changed that to a solid pattern and the problem went away instantly. I'm fairly new to autoCAD and was told to use the dense line pattern to make solids, but the solid pattern is clearly the better way to go. Thanks again for the help. I'll definately come back to this website for any other questions that I might have.

You can do this by clicking on Document tab then the Reduce File Size option. Save the file in another file name and compare the file sizes by looking at its property. It may also help if you save the file with the Fast Web View through the PDF optimizer found in Advanced tool tab.

Maybe that will improve the PDF size/performance. How are you creating pdf's? Don't know what "export to" is.

I'm using AutoCAD 2010's hatch feature to apply colors under large zones on a floor plan. The hatching slows down my computer significantly, but I turn that layer off after I hatch to eliminate the problem. The problem is that when I export my drawings to a pdf file the file is very slow. It takes awhile for the pdf to load, and then the file has to rerender each time i hit the zoom button. It makes looking at the file extremely difficult. Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone have any ideas for a solution???
