Are you working in model space or a paper space layout?
 
What units are you working in?
 
What is the height of your text set at?

Try to change the text style.
Or edit the style you have selected for that text (Standard). I tryed everything what i knew it could be wrong but nothing helped...
I can zoom in how much i want it is still only spot or line.
